Who we are
Family Connector is operated by Family Connector Support (“we”, “us”). If you have a question about this policy or your information, write to privacy@familyconnector.app.
Information we collect
We collect only what you give us and what we need to run the service.
How families see your information
A family is a group you join, such as your relatives, a team or a club. Each family’s events, albums and rooms are visible only to its members.
You choose, family by family, who can see your phone number, birthday and photo: everyone in the family, organizers only, or no one. Your name is always visible to the families you belong to, so they know who you are.
You can only message people who share at least one family with you. Photos you add to an album and events you create can be seen by that family’s members, and they may save or share them outside Family Connector.
How we use it
- To run your account and show your information to the families you choose.
- To send invitations, reminders and account emails, such as password resets.
- To show an event on a map and give it a weather outlook, using the event's location.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To meet our legal obligations.
When we share it
We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only:
- With members of your families, as described above.
- With service providers that host our servers, deliver email, and supply maps and weather. They may use your information only to provide those services to us.
- When the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
- If Family Connector is sold or merged, with the new owner, who must follow this policy.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete your profile and photos within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something longer. Events you created stay with the family they belong to, without your name on them.
If we close an account for breaking our rules, we keep a one-way scrambled copy of its email address — not the address itself — so the same address cannot be used to sign up again. We keep nothing else from a closed account.
Your choices
- Edit or remove your profile details in Settings.
- Change what each family can see in Settings.
- Leave a family. It will no longer see your profile.
- Delete photos you've uploaded, or delete your account.
- Ask for a copy of your information by emailing privacy@familyconnector.app.
California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose.
- Get a copy of it.
- Have it corrected or deleted.
- Opt out of its sale or sharing. We do neither.
- Be treated the same whether or not you use these rights.
To make a request, email privacy@familyconnector.app from the address on your account. We’ll confirm who you are before acting, and reply within 45 days. You can also name an authorized agent to make a request for you. The categories we collect are identifiers (name, email, phone), personal characteristics (birthday), photos, and the event locations you enter.
Children
You must be 18 or older to use Family Connector. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we’ll close the account and delete it. If you think someone under 18 has an account, email privacy@familyconnector.app.
Security
We encrypt your information in transit and limit who on our side can access it. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we make a significant change, we’ll email you before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
